The Public Consultation (CP) n ° 313 of February 23, 2017, updating the administrative procedure for the toxicological re-evaluation of pesticides with indications of changes in the risks to human health, was published on Friday (24/2). Official Journal of the Union (DOU).
The period established for the contributions of the regulated sector, representatives of civil society and the rights of 60 days (sixty) days after the date of publication of the CP in the DOU. That is, start counting from next Thursday (02/03).
With a proposed regulation, a current standard, a RDC No. 48/2008, will be repealed. According to a technical area, it does not conform to the inherent complexity of the revaluation process and presents limitations, such as Lack of definition Of prioritization criteria for the re-evaluation of active ingredients of pesticides and more detailed procedures for an activity. These limitations undermine the effectiveness of Anvisa’s toxicological re-evaluation.
An update is intended to prevent a population and rural workers from being exposed to risks related to agrochemicals that pose unacceptable health risks.
One of the most important points of the standard is a definition of criteria for the selection of the elements of agrochemicals that must be submitted to the re-evaluation. The standard also foresees a publication of a list of selected elements for the re-evaluation, in a timely manner, a form of greater predictability of society, a sector of agricultural product and other products. This way, users and production sectors will have more time to start a search for alternatives to ingredients that are subject to restrictions or prohibition after reevaluation.
