From now on, the hospitals throughout Brazil now have the Patient Safety Handbook, a document produced by ANAHP (National Association of Private Hospitals), in order to assist health institutions to guide their patients regarding the care process.
The publication was officially launched during the 3rd Conahp (National Congress of Private Hospitals), held in São Paulo between 11th and 13th November, and has different guidelines to strengthen the commitment of hospitals with respect to quality and safety.
In order to help patients, their families and even employees of the area, the booklet has a proposal to launch a new look at the hospital routines for the patient to watch and participate more effectively in the care of their Cheers. The participation of the patient can change the health care system and the role of the care team. The empathy and active listening between assisted and medical staff is one of the important steps to seek improvements. “To conquer this, we have to provide guidance to the population so that it is attentive and can charge,” said the President of the Council ANAHP, Francisco Balestrin.
With playful and understandable proposal, the material combines different elements that contribute to the patient to better meet the hospital routine procedures – such as, patient identification, what to do when you schedule a surgery, the need for hygiene hands, how to proceed when visiting inpatients, how to prevent or act after falls, how to safely administer medicines, in addition to the rights and duties of the patient, among other basic steps of care that promote safety and improve treatment outcome.
The material will be available on the site ANAHP and hospitals can adapt it according to the internal rules and regulations of each institution, and should be distributed to the population.
Created in 2001, the ANAHP currently has 80 members between hospitals and companies specializing in Home Care and is recognized by institutions of quality and safety certification in hospital care. Last year, the 68 associated hospitals of ANAHP at the time, obtained an income of R $ 20.7 billion, representing 19% of assistance expenses in the health insurance.
The ANAHP has strategic role in the unfolding of key issues for the system’s sustainability, and promote actions that transcend the interests of member institutions in order to contribute to the reflection on the role of private health care in Brazil.
